What We Do

PSUMC has many opportunities for connection, care, outreach, and spiritual growth

Worship

Worship is a blend of both traditional and contemporary liturgy. We also have a Hand Bell Ensemble that performs several times throughout the year.

Some of our members dress casually, other members prefer to dress in business attire while still others like to dress in their “Sunday finest”.

Family Ministries

Our aim is to connect with whole families. We regularly hold community gatherings to eat and fellowship together, and we are continuously working to provide opportunities for people of all ages to deepen their faith. From Easter Egg Hunts and Fall Festivals to innovative new Fresh Expressions of ministry, we stay active and engaged. We believe that fostering intergenerational conversation and connection enriches the faith experiences of everyone.

Music Ministries

As Methodists, music is integral to our spiritual experience, and we love it when professionals and hobbyists alike contribute their time and talents to praising God. We sing loud together on Sunday mornings, and our music minister leads our choir and other volunteers in making a joyful noise.

Mission

Community partnerships are important to us, and our aim is to do as much good as we can for our neighbors. We have many projects designed to be a blessing to the Springdale community, as well as to provide service opportunities for anyone who would like to participate. We partner with the Scooter Scott Project to provide permit classes to local school students free of charge: we also join them in their snack pack ministries to help feed hungry kids. Our giving box provides year round food for those in need. Our volunteers also get involved in seasonal and denominational projects such as Imagine No Malaria, Salkehatchie, and working to support the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

Small Groups

A cornerstone of any church is its small group ministry. At Platt Springs, we have many active groups, including United Women in Faith, United Methodist Men, Bible studies, children’s church, and more. Our pastor frequently convenes topical small groups and classes for the purpose of fresh new faith formation. We also strive to offer opportunities for community education and life enrichment through programming at our church, including yoga, scouting (Cubs and Girls), and other educational activities.
