Music Ministry

My heart is steadfast, O God,

my heart is steadfast.

I will sing and make music.

~Psalm 57:7

The Chancel Choir

A valued and important part of worship at Platt Springs UMC is the Chancel Choir which meets for rehearsals on Wednesday nights from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The Chancel Choir performs a wide repertoire throughout the year, including sacred anthems, hymns, contemporary arrangements, and good Southern gospel arrangements. The goal of the music ministry is to unite the congregation in worship and in song. The Chancel Choir at PSUMC invites you to come and see where you can best use your gifts.

The Handbell Choir

Adding musical diversity to our services of worship, our Handbell Choir worships God through its music. Most of our participants do not have musical experience or training, but all love making music and spending time in fellowship together for God. Anyone interested in being part of this rewarding ministry is invited to give the Handbell Choir a try. We meet on Wednesday evenings September – May from 6:30-7:30 practice and/or to learn new music for an upcoming service.

Children’s Music

We also have music for children and youth. Wednesday evenings, prior to KICK, interested students learn about reading music and playing the ukulele. Later in the evening, students in KICK practice handbells. Students get a chance to play what they’ve learned during services a few times throughout the year.
